Facial Skin Care Products – 5 Tips To Keep Your Skin Looking Younger

by

Apart from having a daily skin care regimen consisting of cleansing, toning, moisturizing and exfoliating regularly, there are some other ways to help your skin keep looking younger and more rejuvenated.

Below are five simple tips anyone can benefit from:

Tip 1: If you wear makeup often, invest in a proper makeup remover to remove all traces of the makeup. Not removing makeup from your skin properly clogs it up and limits the amount of air circulating on the skin, causing the skin to become dryer and oilier. Water will not remove makeup effectively.

Tip 2: Before investing in facial skin care products, make sure that you take particular notice of your skin type, as well as the type of environment that you are in most of the time. For example, if you are outdoors most of the time, you may want to choose products that contain sunscreen in them or have extra moisturizers to help keep skin rejuvenated and avoid damage. If you have oily skin, use products formulated especially for oily skin.

Tip 3: When you buy a new facial skincare product, make sure that you test it an inconspicuous part of your face first before applying it to your whole face. Many people have sensitive skin types and when they try a new product, it may cause a reaction such as a rash. By testing a small part of your skin, such as behind the earlobe, you will know if you have a sensitivity to the skin care product without running the risk of having a rash over your face.

Tip 4: Never be rough with your skin. By rubbing or scrubbing at your face, you are not making it cleaner. In fact, you are probably causing it a great deal of damage since the skin is so delicate. Have a daily skincare regimen and gently apply skincare products to your face with a cotton ball or soft tissues. Never use anything harder than those – scrubbing brushes are for scrubbing hands and nails, not faces.

Tip 5: Protect your skin with moisturizing sunscreens. Always use a maximum protection sunscreen, especially if you are out in the sun or wind for long periods of time. One of the leading causes of premature aging is sun and wind damage. As well as using sunscreen, make sure to wear a hat out in the sun to protect your skin.

Skin Care Products That May Cause Dermatitis

by

All of us use some types of skin care products. Many of us use color cosmetics. Most of us are not aware that the product we love using so much may be causing dermatitis to us. this dermatitis can be allergic contact dermatitis or irritant contact dermatitis. Anytime you get eczema like patches on your skin, look at your skin care products and cosmetics. Avoid using them for some days and observe the results. If the dermatitis reduces, stiop iuse of that product. Let us find out more about how dermatitis may be caused.

A cosmetic or skin care product contains many ingredients. The main ingredient is the vehicle that forms the base of the product. Many other chemicals, dyes, fragrances, natural products are added to make a color cosmetic or a skin care product. Some of these skin care products and cosmetics can cause allergic contact dermatitis or irritant contact dermatitis.

Fragrances and preservatives are the most common dermatitis causing agents. Every individual has his/her tendency to be allergic or get irritant contact dermatitis from a material. The material, which is safe for one, may cause a reaction in others. For good skin care it is important to know about what causes allergy to you.

Though many skin care products are labeled as hypoallergenic, they may cause allergy in some people. Terms such as unscented, fragrance-free etc. that are frequently used to label skin care products may not have much signifivance because some fragrance may have been used to mask bad odor of other ingredients. Many natural products carry their own fragrance. Many lavender preparations may have no fragrance, but lavender itself is a fragrance.

Natural products used for skin care may also cause allergy, so do chemicals. Most of the essential oils of the lime family are phototoxic. If you use them and walk out in the sun, you will get phototoxic reaction on your skin. That is bad for good skin care.

Any time you get a reaction from a skin care product, stop using that. Try to find out the ingredients that cause dermatitis to you and avoid any other skin care product that uses the same ingredient. You should use any cosmetic or skin care preparation only after doing a small test on the skin first.

by

A deep, bronzed skin, acquired by sun tanning is very popular today. Not only that, many people enjoy tanning. One only has to go to the local beach to see dozens of people lying in the sun, trying to get that perfect tan.

But sun tanning has its dangers, too. Ultraviolet rays, or UV rays, which you are exposed to from the sun and from tanning beds, can cause sun burning, premature aging, and cancer. Over exposure to the sun, which you are in danger of when tanning, can pose serious long term health risks.

The solution is to protect yourself from over exposure to the sun. Limit your time in the sun, and or use protection from the sun. Many professionals recommend that you use clothing, such as long sleeve shirts and hats to protect yourself from the sun.

However, if you’re wanting to get a tan, you don’t want complete protection. You want to protect your skin with skin care products.

The first skin care product you’ll need is sunscreen, which will help protect your skin from the negative effects of exposure to the sun. When choosing a sunscreen, ensure that it protects you from UVA and UVB rays. Also pay attention to the Sun Protection Factor, or SPF rating of the skin care product.

Exposure to sun and other elements can also have a premature aging effect on your skin, which you probably do not want! You can combat aging effects on your skin with rejuvenating skin care products. Many of the products contain ingredients such as aloe vera or antioxidant rich plant sources. Antioxidants help fight oxidation by free radicals, which is what causes much of effects of aging.

Making Your Own Skin Care Products

by

The first step to make your own skin care products might be said to clean up your kitchen sink spic and spam, this is only meant as a joke although it could be said that not long ago chemists involved in the production of cosmetics had not much more than what we call an old kitchen sink. Luckily we have progressed from there onwards. However in spite of all our modern technology, and clean sterile rooms in the end it’s really not much different. If you care to invest the time and are interested you can make your own skin care products.

Here are the basics. In a lot of ways it’s all the same – all the back to Roman times. On the other hand with modern technology advanced skin care products and ingredients definitely have become more sophisticated, specialized and precise. All a lot more difficult.

First on board you need an emulsion component. For an emulsion all you basically need is those three ingredients: (1) Water. (2) Oil. (3) Emulsifier. To be sure that your product has no bacteria or other growth forms – distilled water is recommended as the basic water liquid component.

Another type of skin care products are those products that can be said not be of an emulsion nature .These non emulsion type skin care products are based on oil only. Those are very simple to make, all you need is grease and oil of different consistency and you mixes them to arrive at your favorite consistency. The better known is Petrolatum, Lanolin and cholesterol sold under the trade name Eucerin. The composition is not exactly but very close to 70% Petrolatum, 20% Lanolin and 5% Cholesterol. The reason cholesterol is use in that formulation is to reduce the quantity of Lanolin. The benefit of lanolin on your skin is the cholesterol but pure Lanolin at the time this formulation vas developed, (a century ago) Lanolin was smelly but the cholesterol when extracted from it was not, but Cholesterol was more expensive. I think you get my point. Cost is the number one concern of the skin care industry. They have to pay for expensive ads!

Now back to making I and cooking of your home made skin care products. Where do you start and when do you start to “cook” or “bake” the ingredients? : First you weight all your ingredients, put them all in a container and slowly heat them to approximately 75 degree Celsius (equivalent to 175 degrees Fahrenheit) and keep turning it. A spoon will do the trick just fine! After everything is melted let your concoction cool. However pay attention to turning your production. Keep tuning it until it solidifies… ET voila! You have made your first face cream.

Now the fun and creativity starts. You can change the oil base to whatever you choose or prefer.

Whether it is for personal preference along, color, consistency of the end product or for your health concerns – it’s all your choice. What fun and creativity to be able to do this. The full range of choices is yours. Now you can change the petrolatum which is really bad for your skin by Cocoa butter, Lanolin for Avocado or Olive oil until you gets the consistency you want. You can experiment with any kind of product as long as they are all fat. One solid one liquid two solids five liquids whatever suit your fancy.

Now the more complex products: Emulsions. As I said before there is three mandatory ingredients Water, Oil there literally thousands of ingredients, again Avocado, Almond, Cocoa Butter, Shea butter, Olive oil, Lard, ( lol) it as been done, after all what is Mink oil? Mink oil is oil extracted from mink cadaver after the removal of their fur. they cook them up and skim the oil from the top. Same as Emus Oil, Pig oil is called Lard. I think I could cook with lard. My mother did it, but I will not try Mink fat! No way José! Anyway try to stay away from animal and mineral oil by products. The third ingredient is the emulsifier is absolutely needed to bind oil and water.

People who learn to cook often find or are taught know that egg yolk itself is a good emulsifier, it will bind water to oil in sauces, but are not a very good choice for Skin Care. However egg yolk is not a good or wise choice to skin care. There are much better choices of products and ingredients available.

A better choice is Wax. You can purchase emulsifying wax and use between 6% to12 percent of it, or use the two or three component usually found in it: Stearic acid, 60% 40% Cetearyl Alcohol use 6% to 10% of that mixture in the oil phase. Yes, you have at least 2 phases: the oil phase where all the fatty ingredients in a container where they will be heated to approximately 75 degrees Celsius and the water phase where the entire water soluble ingredient will be heated at the same temperature. The water phase is where you put all your Vegetable extract, Plants, Flowers extracts etc. Be careful extracts are usually dark green yellowish brown and they will very fast color your cream. Also they might be heat sensitive and cannot be heated, in this case you will have to wait until the whole thing cool down before you can introduce them in your formula. Ok I went ahead of myself, let me back track. Now you have your Water and Oil phase ready you heat them both to 75 degrees Celsius and you mix them together and turn them continuously until the whole thing cool down to 40 Celsius. And now is the time to ad your heat sensitive product. At this point you can also ad your preservatives and stabilized your formulation with 0.5 to 1% of Triethanolamine, (TEA) it make the cream smoother.

Celebrity Skin Care Products

by

If celebrities know one thing, it is how to stay beautiful. Just imagine the pressure they must be under to always look their best. In the case of the A-list actors and actresses, they can barely leave their homes without being photographed. Those photos end up on the covers of every magazine in every supermarket checkout in America. Poor Britney…

In recent times, a number of celebrities have launched their own skin care and cosmetic lines. It makes a lot of sense, if you think about it. Why not capitalize on the fame they have established in their respective careers? Smart celebrities have taken the endorsement scenario to another level entirely. Instead of endorsing existing products, many of them have simply launched their own lines.

Cindy Crawford is one such example. After a highly successful modeling career, Cindy dropped out of the modeling scene to settle down and start a family. A few years later, Cindy decided to capitalize on her name by launching a line of specialized skin care formulas. She partnered with the famous French cosmetic surgeon, Jean-Louis Sebagh, to create Meaningful Beauty. They offer a wide range of skin care products designed to reduce free radicals and stimulate the growth of collagen, both of which are necessary to fight the effects of aging. Well done, Cindy!

Fresh-faced freshmen, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, are everywhere these days. These girls have been in the entertainment industry since they were just a few months old, and they have build up a veritable cosmetic and fashion empire in recent years. These girls are highly influential with the “tween” crowd. They have a wonderfully fun line of cosmetics for young girls, that includes metallic mascara and sparkle applications that are crayon-like in their appearance. Smart kids, indeed!

Jessica Simpson has also started her own line of skin care products. After her recent television and movie endeavors, there is no doubt that she should be exploring her career options. Her line of skin care products is called Dessert Beauty, and is produced in conjunction with a fellow named Randi Shinder. This line is more focused on lotions and lip balms with scents like strawberry and vanilla bean. It’s good to see that Jessica has plan B in effect!
